CNN waited several minutes longer than its rivals, but after taking a commercial break at 9 p.m. (EDT), CNN called Pennsylvania for Hillary Clinton.

The network had presaged that result right before the break, with John King explaining that Barack Obama was not racking up the margin in Philadelphia and its surrounding communities that he would need to offset Clinton’s big totals in other parts of the state.

With the raw vote starting to come in at a steady pace, each camp will continue to eye the bottom line. With 7% of the vote counted, Clinton was up by 8 percentage points -- a middle-range showing.
