Opinion: 88 days from done, George and Laura Bush vote for their successors

This early voting thing is really catching on. (See video below by clicking on the Read more line.) Now, what about early counting so we can skip the bizarre Cialis bathtub ads on election night?

So looks like this 2006 photo is the last we’ll have of George W. Bush coming out of the Crawford fire station on election morning in time for the TV cameras to get film to make the noon news to remind the faithful they need to follow his example and go to the polls even if it’s raining.

The president and Laura both voted today, according to our blogging buddies over at Countdown to Crawford. (The countdown, by the way, is at 88 days, in case you’re counting as closely as the Bushes.)

The First Couple’s ballots will go out in the White House mail tonight.

But a funny thing happened. Reporters being reporters, they asked Press Secretary Dana Perino which party’s candidates the Republican president and GOP First Lady, who’ve enthusiastically endorsed John McCain and Sarah Palin, ended up voting for.
