Early each morning through Wednesday, Jan. 21, The Ticket will publish that day’s schedule of pre-inaugural and inaugural events as released by the Obama Inaugural Committee. So bookmark us and check back several dozen times a day.

We Are One: Opening Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial, Sunday’s welcome event at the Lincoln Memorial with President-elect Obama and Vice President-elect Biden. Unless you are there or a subscriber to HBO premium channel, which has purchased the exclusive broadcast rights, you will be unable to see this entire program.

Where: The Lincoln Memorial, between Constitution Avenue NW and Independence Avenue SW on 23rd Street.

When: January 18, 2009

Who: Obama, Michelle Obama, Biden and Jill Biden.

Performances: Musical performers scheduled for the event include Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Bono, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Renee Fleming, Josh Groban, Herbie Hancock, Heather Headley, John Legend, Jennifer Nettles, John Mellencamp, Usher Raymond IV, Shakira, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, will.i.am, and Stevie Wonder. Among those reading historical passages will be Jamie Foxx, Martin Luther King III, Queen Latifah and Denzel Washington.

The Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson will give the invocation. Rob Mathes will be the music director and arranger for the backing band, which will support all of the artists.

Public Access: This event is free and open to the public.

Attire: Plan appropriately for outdoor conditions.

History: Dedicated to the memory of America’s 16th President, the Lincoln Memorial has been the site of many presidential inauguration activities in recent years. Most recently, in 2001, President-elect George W. Bush kicked off his inaugural festivities at the site with performances by Ricky Martin, Charlotte Church and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
