, the former speaker of the House, officially announced his worst-kept secret -- that he will be running for president in the 2012 election.Taking to Twitter and then YouTube, the Georgia Republican reeled off a list of accomplishments during his 10 terms in Congress and asked for Americans to help him become president before the country gets destroyed.
‘There are some people who don’t mind if America becomes a wreck as long as they dominate the wreckage,’ Gingrich said on a video hosted at YouTube that currently shows just 322 views three hours after he encouraged his 1.5 million Twitter followers to watch it.
‘Today I am announcing my candidacy for President of the United States. You can watch my announcement here,’ the 67-year-old tweeted, providing a link to the video hosting website.
Gingrich will appear Wednesday night on the Sean Hannity talk show on Fox News to talk about his candidacy. On Sunday, the conservative will be a guest on NBC’s ‘Meet The Press.’
