Every week, on the Morning After Blog, I’ll have a segment called Three-And-Out were I’ll highlight three things that stood out from the night that was.

So, here we go, Three-And-Out.

First down: The score that most surprised me is Pasadena losing to HW, 26-6. I thought the game was going to be a lot closer than that. I had told my editor I was going to Pasadena next week to go see them play Dominguez, but I’m rethinking it now.

Second down: I’m also surprised to read that Diamond Bar had 390 total yards of offense and still lost. They outgained Temescal Canyon by 55 yards, so it’s not as if they were light up on D. Turnovers, though, are killers. According to the SGVT, quarterback Hunter Warren threw two interceptions. When Warren wasn’t having passes intercepted, he was throwing to Kevin Beatty, who finished with six catches and 104 yards.

Third down: Bishop Amat’s game next week against Orange Lutheran might not be a blowout, like some people might think. Orange Lutheran struggled in their 28-7 season opener win against Dana Hills. The Orange County Register’s Lou Ponsi wrote a detailed report of it’s struggles. On defense OLU looked good, but on offense the Lancers failed to scored two times from inside the 30 in the second quarter. QB Blake Hypeock (the young man with the monumental task of replacing Aaron Corp) completed 9 of 21 attempts for 147 yards and 1 TD and 14 rushing yards.

OLU is going to be tougher than Los Osos, but Amat looked really strong up front. What OLU does really good is run the ball. So Amat has a chance to stop the run and keep it close. The interesting part will be when Amat has the ball?

The Lancers’ defense is going to be way better than Los Osos’ D. Can Marcus Wagner run the ball against the Lancers like he did Friday? Can that offensive line block as great as they did? And can they not dig their own grave by turning the ball over?

They are all great questions and it I’ll be interesting to see what the answers will be.

Punt: In the punt section I’ll ususally have a quote, a comment or an e-mail from someone, but I don’t have one today. Call it a bad snap.
