Sidney arrives at Fairfax

Let’s see how long it takes before colleges start sending their recruiting letters to Fairfax High now that 6-10 center Renardo Sidney has arrived.

Sidney enrolled on Tuesday and went through his first day of classes on Wednesday, boys’ basketball Coach Harvey Kitani confirmed.

Sidney, a junior who helped Artesia win the state Division III basketball championship last season, is the nation’s No. 1 center for the class of 2009. Kitani said colleges have already been calling him on the phone inquiring about Sidney.

Fairfax officials will be checking out Sidney’s address to make sure he has physically moved and is athletically eligible.
