That’s what the hype is all about.

Chris Polk showed why USC wants him in cardinal and gold next year. He broke loose on a 30-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter, then began lining up at wide receiver, his natural position, and caught two passes on the ensuing drive, including a nine-yard touchdown, to give Redlands East Valley a 14-8 halftime lead. At running back, he has 10 carries for 52 yards.

North had only two drives in the first half and would have scored on both, but each time a receiver dropped a sure touchdown pass.

Two other things stand out for REV: the fullback calls the plays in the offensive huddle, and its kicker has one heckuva leg, booting both kickoffs high and deep into the end zone.

I’m not ready to revise my earlier prediction, but REV has the momentum heading into the second half.
