Riverside bound

Getting ready to creep back up the 91 freeway this afternoon and catch the No. 8 Riverside North vs. No. 23 Redlands East Valley football game at Riverside College. The last time I saw North play, the Huskies were defeating La Quinta, 26-10, to win the Eastern Division title last December. I’ve never seen REV in person.

I’m interested to see how REV wide reciever Chris Polk performs against an experienced defense. Polk has committed to USC and appears to be the best athlete on REV’s team. I imagine the Wildcats will need to find creative ways to get him the ball.

The game is scheduled to be televised live on Fox Sports West at 7:30 p.m., so there may be some added nerves in the season opener for both teams.

That said, I expect North to settle in by the second quarter and pull away for a 34-21 victory.
