One last comment on Hart-Moorpark: I was impressed by each team’s defense, especially Hart’s, which looked mid-season sharp at times, with senior LBs Dakotah Luster and Patrick Larimore leading the way. Luster especially stood out, recording a sack and at least a few tackles.

Moorpark also looked strong upfront with senior DL John Husted and sophomore LB Marc Palacios anchoring a strong effort which proved the Musketeers weren’t intimidated by RB Delano Howell.

Unfortunately for the Musketeers, its DBs got picked apart. Hart WRs Brian Felt and Demitri Diamond were left wide open on their TD catches as Moorpark paid dearly for their secondary lapses in the second half. Of course, the way Hart’s defense seemingly became disinterested in the fourth quarter and allowed two TDs when a shutout was entirely possible, is also a concern.

But these are early-season issues I’m sure Hart Coach Mike Herrington and Moorpark Coach Tim Lins will address and sort out.
