Me and Bob, that’s my editor -- even though I’m new here we are already on a first name basis...at least I think we are... anyways, my editor and I, following the losses of South Hills and Charter Oak, where discussing whether there were any top 25 candidates in the SGV.

I think there are two real good choices: Los Altos (1-0) and Diamond Ranch (1-1). The one I’m going to focus on right now, though, is Los Altos.

The Conquerors have a pretty easy schedule to start the season. They played Rosemead last week and will play L.B. WIlson this week. Nothing against those schools, but wins over those teams won’t open any eyes.

YouTube highlights will open eyes, however. As the cliché goes, it’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game. And the Conqs, from viewing the highlights, played it very well during their 35-0 trashing of Rosemead.

Running back Bryce Mahmud-McBride looks extremely sharp. Bryce seems bigger, stronger and faster than anyone on the field. And he even made a big tackle at the start of the game. Check out his highlights at the 0:51, 1:03, 3:03, 3:31 and 4:36 marks to see what I mean. He is No. 5 in the dark jersey. According to Scout.com, Boise State, California and San Diego State have shown interest.

Los Altos’ schedule gets much tougher after Week 2 -- they have Damien, St. Francis, Western, South Hills, Diamond Ranch and Charter Oak. If they can manage to survive that stretch, watch out. Forget top 25. Top 15, maybe?
