If you’re looking for some action in Murrieta, besides at the local bowling alley, check out the Vista Murrieta football team. The Broncos are 2-0 and host La Palma Kennedy (2-0) on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

Vista Murrieta dropped one spot to No. 23 in our latest poll, but that’s because its games have been closer than expected, which means they’re probably pretty exciting (probably not as exciting as knocking down a 7-10 split, though).

And you might even sit next to the person responsible for the ‘ugliest 10 seconds’ in the history of the Texas Rangers. Lenny Randle, a pretty good Major League second baseman in his time, became a household name in Ranger lore when he punched out his manager before a game in 1977.

His son, Bradley, is a running back for Vista Murrieta and a pretty good one, looks like. He rushed for 135 yards in eight carries and scored two touchdowns last week in a 37-27 victory over Escondido San Pasqual.

Lenny was no slouch on the gridiron himself, returning five punts for touchdowns while at Arizona State, a Western Athletic Conference record for 35 years.
