At least Norco gave the refs a workout

Norco losing to visiting Leuzinger, 10-7, is certainly one that jumped out at me Friday night. I knew the Cougars were without starting running back Joshua Nakamoto, who has an ankle injury, but with Norco’s corn-fed lineman, I figured Eric Sondheimer could run for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

Looks like Norco really bashed its head against the wall with penalties, something like 14 for 150 yards or so. That can put a dent in your drives when you’re not used to throwing the ball. The play before the game-winning touchdown, the Cougars were hit with 30 yards worth of penalties.

Nevertheless, I’ll likely keep my date with Norco this Friday, when the Cougars host Los Osos. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of adjustments they make this week. Eliminating the penalties shouldn’t be a problem.
