I had a 10:30 p.m. deadline to get the Corona Centennial-Crespi game in the paper.

Luckily, it got over at 10:27.

Between the television timeouts and Centennial’s no-huddle offense, which actually slows down the game, it was a long one. But like a good three-hour movie, time flew by.

As I was striking away at my blogberry in the closing minutes, one particular Centennial supporter was in my ear, telling me the score should have been worse. The Huskies allowed a third-quarter kickoff return for a touchdown, and a turnover led to another short-field TD.

I was thinking, ‘Does he really want me to subtract those points from the final score?’

If I had time to argue, I would have reminded him that Centennial benefited just as much from a late hit on a third-down play that kept alive a first-half scoring drive, and the fourth-quarter botched punt return caused by Kenneth Anderson’s thwack on Austin Shanks.

I have a feeling I’ll be seeing him again though.
