A memorial mass for Hal Krug, a longtime coach and teacher at Bell-Jeff, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Robert Bellamine Church (5th St. and Orange Grove Ave.) in Burbank. Krug coached football, baseball and volleyball at various times throughout his 25-year tenure and won five league championships before his retirement in 2002. He died on Sept. 1 from complications after open-heart surgery. He was 80.

Krug coached the baseball team from 1976-1990, posting a career record of 162-141. He coached the football team for seven years in the late 1970s and early 80s. Jeff Tully at the Burbank Leader recently wrote an article highlighting Krug’s numerous contributions to Bell-Jeff athletics.
