This week’s game between the Tartans and Chargers has all the makings of one of the greats because:

  1. It’s a local rivalry
  2. There is a trophy that goes to the winner
  3. There is a YouTube highlight from last year’s game
  4. Trash-talking. Lots and lots of trash-talking. You can’t have a good rivalry without trash-talking.

The SGVT’s blog had a huge spike in comments this week with fans from Glendora (2-0) and Charter Oak (1-1) going at one another.

Everything from the size of each school’s enrollment to whether Glendora is playing like a college team has been discussed. Click here and then scroll down to read the trash-talking, er, comments.

Glendora, wearing black in the video below, won last year’s game, 14-7, on a touchdown by Jordan Edmond in the closing minutes.

This video on YouTube shows the last 7:57 of that game. The audio is horrible and the picture is constantly moving, but you can feel the anticipated celebration building up as the seconds count down.

The SGTV previews the game and also mentions this weekend’s other big game in the SGV, Los Altos vs Damien.
