And it’s not that football. It’s his highlights.

In today’s tech-savy world of recruiting-- where assistant coaches need to know how to TXT MSG as well as post MySpace comments -- Los Altos running back Bryce Mahmud-McBride is making it easy for scouts to find him. Rather than driving to Hacienda Heights, where the school is located, or to La Verne, where the Conquerors play Damien this Friday, college coaches can go to YouTube and check out his highlights.

BMM is uploading his highlights onto YouTube so colleges coaches can marvel at his cuts, jukes, stiff arms and breakaway speed.

In what has to be the first ever L.A. Times interview done through the YouTube message center, Bryce’s father, Munir, said he and his son will be uploading Bryce’s highlights onto YouTube all season long. Their user name, BryceHighlights.

‘Since the college season started, most scouts and coaches are focused on their seasons,’ Munir wrote. ‘I send out the highlights to keep them posted on his season.’

Munir said Bryce was injured most of last season and his rushing stats reflect that -- only 519 yards and four touchdowns. After two games this season, he has rushed for 458 yards and five touchdowns. He’s averaging 10.9 yards a carry. He’s also returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown.

Now, if you are thinking his dad is trying to share the spotlight, not so. I asked him to send me a picture of the two together to use in this blog and he declined, choosing instead to keep the attention on his son.

They’ve posted three videos so far and will post at least one after every game. Below are highlights from last week’s game in which he ran for 302 yards and four touchdowns, according to MaxPreps.com.

I’m surprised more athletes aren’t doing this. Bryce is not the only one, though. There’ also this guy.

As you might be able to tell from the video, it’s not all Bryce. The senior running back is getting great help from his offensive line. Having said that, once he gets 10 yards beyond the line of scrimmage, it’s all him.
