Just before the game, I had a chat with a few guys in the Alemany band. Freshmen Ryan Kelso and Chris Vanacore looked like they got a kick out of playing their guitars while on the football field, and senior J.R. Sabado did a good job playing ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ on his saxophone.

The musical trio seemed pretty excited about Alemany’s first home game of the season and were thrilled about playing in front of a larger-than-average home crowd. Apparently, a lot of people ran into some parking troubles tonight, not just me.

By the way, in the photo, that’s Sabado on the right playing Vanacore’s guitar (Vanacore is on the far left) and Kelso is in the middle.

Game update: Right when I was thinking Ryan Zirbel was having a pretty quiet night, he busted off a 50-yard TD run late in the first quarter to give Saugus a 7-0 lead.
