Meet Marivick Valdeavilla. She’s only a sophomore, but already she’s getting national attention.

Valdeavilla, a member of South Pasadena’s tennis team, is ranked No. 7 in California and No. 38 in the nation by TennisRecruiting.com in the sophomore class.

I’ll admit I don’t know much about high school tennis, so it could be the website is not a credible one, but what about the United States Tennis Assn. site then? In the latest USTA Southern California 16-year-old girls’ rankings, Valdeavilla is No. 6. For the same age group, in the latest USTA national rankings, she is No. 51. Several people that Vadevilla is ahead of in the SoCal rankings, she trails in the national rankings. That’s weird.

Anyways, here is a link to her USTA profile page (she took the No. 1 in SoCal, Kailyn Christian, a sophomore at Orange Lutheran, to three sets earlier in the year). Last week, Scott Galetti from The PSN wrote a nice article on Valdevilla, check that out. There’s also video, so check that out too.
