Week 3 was pretty interesting. We saw Birmingham prove its victory over Long Beach Poly was no fluke with its 28-21 ‘upset’ of Notre Dame, and St. Bonaventure made sure Friday’s game with Oaks Christian didn’t follow the script of last year’s much-hyped duel. But here’s a look at some of other regional highlights -- yes, there were other games.

He’s back: Does it surprise anyone that after his forgettable performance against Pacifica, Langston Jackson had his big comeback on Thursday? The heavily-recruited Jackson rushed for 138 yards and scored four TDs as Simi Valley mashed visiting Burbank, 28-0. If Jackson can do this against some tougher opponents (a.k.a Marmonte League teams), the Pioneers might have an outside chance at a playoff berth.

All-around performance:
While there may be a lot of reasons why Morro Bay is 3-0, one of them has to be because they’ve got a guy named Duran Gonzalez. In the Pirates’ 40-0 victory over Wasco, Gonzalez rushed for 144 yards and three TDs. Not bad.

Fast Roadrunners:
After having to endure some humbling losses in its first three games, Rosamond pick up its first win Friday. Behind a 177-yard, one-TD night by RB Joshua McClain, the Roadrunners grabbed more than 280 yards on the ground in their 16-12 victory over Vasquez heading into its game against undefeated Paraclete.

Not enough: How many yards does a player need to rush for before his team wins? Well, RB Malcolm Roberson rushed for 251 yards and a TD, but it still wasn’t enough to prevent South Pasadena from defeating Glendale, 20-17. I guess football is a team sport after all.

Atascadero Attack: No, this isn’t the name of the newest Arena Football League 2 franchise, it’s just a way to describe the Greyhounds’ top dog in their 42-0 victory over Dinuba. RB Nick Tenhaeff scored on TD runs of 26, 27 and 29 yards and rushed for 163 total yards in the win.

The ‘guy’ in the photo is the Birmingham Patriot. I saw the Patriot with its head off at halftime, but I didn’t think it was ethically responsible to snap off a picture then. As you can tell, she -- I mean, he -- already knew what the outcome would be at halftime.

Finally, I received a link to this video via email of Jackson running amok against Burbank. I’m glad to see people are reading our blog.
