There’s a definite buzz about the Dorsey-Birmingham nonleague contest on Friday -- at least at Dorsey.

‘I’m getting requests for tickets from people I haven’t heard from in several years,’ said Dorsey Athletic Director Doug Brown, who added that he expects the game to attract the kind of large crowd Dorsey often draws for its Coliseum League home games with Crenshaw.

What will be interesting to see is how many Birmingham fans will travel from Lake Balboa and Van Nuys for the game. Brown said he could not put a number on it, but hopes the crowd will be similar in size to the one that followed Santa Margarita all the way from Orange County two weeks ago.

‘They brought in a couple of bus-loads beyond their team, band and cheerleaders,’ Brown said.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Rancho Cienega Park.
