Eagle Rock Coach Jerry Chou, a worrier by nature, had several scenarios going through his mind before Thursday’s intersectional game against La Canada (1-1-1). None of them brought a smile to his face.

His starting quarterback, Jelani Blunt, was out with turf toe. Leading receiver Sebastian Bowers was being held out for disciplinary reasons. And Chou had been unhappy all week with his 4-0 team’s attitude in practice.

‘We act like our stuff don’t stink,’ Chou said. ‘We’re ripe for the upset.’

Eagle Rock (4-0) was in such chaos it could barely scrape together a 34-0 lead by halftime.
