Fillmore boys’ basketball coach dies of heart attack

Chris Cone, a popular coach and teacher at Fillmore, died of a heart attack on Monday, according to Principal Rebecca Larkin, the Ventura County Star reported today. He was 51.

Cone coached the boys’ basketball team and taught sophomore English and senior economics. He had worked at Fillmore for 10 years and served as the school’s athletic director part of that time. Cone also coached the girls’ volleyball team and the track and field team during his tenure.

I know Fillmore has lost one of its very best. My condolences go out to his family and friends and everyone at Fillmore and its community.
