He’s both coach and weatherman

If you read my earlier blog, then you know I don’t fancy cold, windy weather very much.

Well, I was complaining about the weather, specifically the wind, to Newbury Park Coach George Hurley before the game, and he told me not too worry too much because it would die down around game time.

I was a little skeptical to say the least, but once the game started, the winds died down and by late in the first quarter, only sporadic breezes were whipping through the artificial turf at Newbury Park.

Still, it was stupid of me to doubt Hurley’s weather prediction. After all, he’s been coaching at NP for nearly two decades.

Game Update: RB Chris Brown scored on a 27-yard run late in the first quarter to give Newbury Park a 6-0 lead. However, it didn’t take long for the Warriors to cut into that lead with Jordan Mannisto’s 48-yard field goal minutes later. Mannisto had missed a 48-yarder earlier in the game, but we’ll give him a break because I can only imagine how difficult it must be to kick in these conditions.

The guy in my photo is Brown, immediately following his TD run.
