You’ve heard of dinner and a movie?

Well, that’s how a lot of guys may spend their Friday nights, but much to my girlfriend’s chagrin, I’m spending tonight taking in water polo and football games.

I overestimated how bad the end of the week traffic would be on the 118 and the 101 and arrived at Newbury Park for the NP-Westlake football game a little earlier than I planned -- about 1 1/2 hours earlier than I planned.

But it wasn’t a total loss since I was able to catch the end of the frosh-soph water polo match between Royal and Newbury Park.

And I could tell those guys were in no hurry to get out of the water after the match because it’s freezing out here in normally temperature-friendly Newbury Park. It feels like I’m covering a game in Lancaster on Thanksgiving weekend (which isn’t fun).

Anyways, enough with my complaining. I’m going to go thaw off in the press box before heading back onto the sidelines to blog what should be a great Marmonte League showdown between the Panthers and the Warriors.

I think the Panthers have the edge in tonight’s football game, but never underestimate what the Warriors are capable of with RB Cooper Shockley and QB Nick Owens.

As always, I’ll do my best to keep you updated on the game, so don’t do anything stupid like watch a Britney Spears video on YouTube or something.

I’m literally shaking with anticipation ... oh, wait a minute ... that’s just my body trying to prevent frostbite.
