For a couple weeks now, I’ve been debating on whether Saugus deserves to be in our exclusive, everyone’s-just-dying-to-be-there Times rankings.

The Centurions impressive but heart-wrenching game against Notre Dame last week, I think, put them on everyone’s radar, but Friday night’s 33-0 walloping of St. Francis was the kicker for me. They’ll definitely squeeze into my top 25 this week along with Foothill League adversary Canyon.

Now, I know what you’re saying: Who’s Saugus beaten that’s a top-notch team? Well, the answer is nobody.

But impressive victories over decent Westlake, Alemany and St. Francis squads coupled with the fine performance against No. 11 Notre Dame (just ask No. 6 Servite how tough it is to compete with the Knights) has me thinking it’s a threat for the Foothill League title.

And if you’re legitimately in the running for a Foothill League title, that’s good enough to be in my top-25.
