There is no state tournament in girls’ tennis, but if you’re looking for a mythical mid-season state champion, look no further than the Corona del Mar All-American tournament, which takes place at various locations in Newport Beach on Friday and Saturday. Among the 14 teams participating is Danville Monte Vista, the Northern California champion the past four years (The Central and Central Coast champions face each other to determine the NorCal champ).

Corona del Mar, which had been beaten by Troy earlier this season, lost to Dana Hills last week by a 13-5 margin. In the Southern Section rankings, Dana Hills moved to No. 1, followed by Troy and then CdM. You can read about Dana Hills’ victory in Miguel Melendez’s account.
