Girls’ volleyball: Orange Lutheran is a Trinity surprise

It seems there have been upsets in every sport in the last week, and it was no different Monday when Orange Lutheran defeated Mater Dei in five games. Mater Dei came into the week ranked No. 9 in Division I-AA in the Southern Section rankings, just ahead of another Trinity League team, Santa Margarita. Orange Lutheran was supposed to be behind Rosary as the fourth challenger in the league.

I guess notice has been officially served.

A number of local teams are set to participate Friday and Saturday at the California Challenge hosted by Torrey Pines but played at four area schools. For that, and other notes, read Damian Calhoun’s column.
