I did OK in my picks last week, except I got burned on the Canyon-Crespi and Notre Dame-Servite contests. Oh well, you can’t win them all. Here are my picks for Week 6:

No. 25 Chaminade (5-0) vs. Loyola (2-3) at L.A. Valley College, 7:30 p.m. -– Another tough test for both teams, but based on how they performed last week in Hart’s “Herrington 200-win” game, I think the Cubs will take this one. Of course, Chaminade is undefeated with one of those wins coming against a talented Canyon squad. This will be a good one.

My Prediction: Loyola 28, Chaminade 21

Thousand Oaks (3-2) at Moorpark (3-2), 7 p.m. -– The Lancers come into this one riding a three-game winning streak, which includes victories over decent Camarillo and Agoura squads. The Adam Barry-led Musketeers will be the toughest test Thousand Oaks has faced since meeting Atascadero in Week 2. I know it’s going to be close, but I’ll go with TO on this one.

My Prediction: Thousand Oaks 28, Moorpark 27
Calpreps.com: Thousand Oaks 22, Moorpark 14

West Ranch (3-2) vs. Saugus (4-1) at College of the Canyons, 7:30 p.m. –- Saugus proved last week in its thrashing of St. Francis, that it’s ready for a bigger challenge. But the Centurions need to push down those “been there, done that” feelings against a West Ranch team that, like Saugus, has been a surprise this season. Of course, RB Ryan Zirbel and that great Saugus defense (nine sacks last week!) is going to be too much for the Wildcats to handle.

My Prediction: Saugus 35, West Ranch 13
Calpreps.com: Saugus 35, West Ranch 20

Buena (3-2) at Santa Barbara (4-1), 7 p.m. –- The Dons enter Channel League play with a surprising four wins under the belts thanks to guys like QB John Uribe and WR Roberto Nelson (he’s pretty good at basketball, too) in their lineup. Of course, Buena put up a gutsy defensive performance in its triumph over a decent Hueneme team, so Santa Barbara can expect another hard-nosed battle for win No. 5.

My Prediction: Santa Barbara 27, Buena 14
Calpreps.com: Santa Barbara 31, Buena 17
