Can Narbonne get out of its own way?

It’s doubtful the Carson or Narbonne fans in attendance at Daniels Field in San Pedro were aware of the increased police presence for tonight’s game. And they probably didn’t know about the LAPD gang control patrols who were also at the game, as well as at San Pedro’s homecoming game only two blocks away.

But what they did see was Narbonne’s penchant for committing dumb penalties that helped Carson to a 21-17 halftime lead.

And ‘dumb’ is accurate. Narbonne was penalized for having too many men on the field to extend one of the Colts’ scoring drives. And an unsportsmanlike penalty extended another.

The deficit is only four points, but Narbonne is lucky it isn’t a lot more.
