Watch out for Cypress to be one of the top baseball teams in the Southland this spring based on the number of its college prospects.

Danny Pulfer, a shortstop who transferred from Huntington Beach Marina, has committed to Oregon, making him the first prospect from Southern California to commit to the Ducks’ new coach, George Horton, formerly at Cal State Fullerton.

Pitcher Matt Sisto and center fielder Chase Koissian have each committed to Hawaii. And junior second baseman David Nick has given a verbal to UCLA.

Cypress returns all five of its pitchers from last season, led by Sisto. Pulfer’s arrival will help Cypress replace Josh Vitters, the third player taken in baseball’s amateur draft last June.
