Jordan (4-3, 3-0) is on top of the Eastern League, a half-game ahead of Garfield (5-1, 2-0). And the teams meet next week.

That makes Jordan’s game against South East (5-2, 2-1) this Friday a trap game, as in getting caught looking ahead and paying less attention to the game in front of you.

South East Coach Roger Satti won’t mind if Jordan is looking ahead, because the Bulldogs can be a difficult team to defend.

‘They have great speed and are good at getting the ball to their fast guys,’ Satti said. ‘In our league, no one else has that speed. Your best defense has to be your offense.’

So Satti and the Jaguars will try and keep the ball away from Jordan as much and for as long as possible. Expect heavy workloads for South East tailbacks Senen Carson and Edgar Ortiz.

Carson is currently the league’s leading rusher with 744 yards in 115 carries. He has scored eight touchdowns rushing and four receiving. Ortiz has carried 81 times for 367 yards and one rushing touchdown.
