Woolridge picks Tennessee

Surprise, surprise, surprise.

That was the initial reaction when 6-foot-8 senior forward Renaldo Woolridge of North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake announced Thursday he had selected Tennessee as his college choice over USC and Georgetown.

But Harvard-Westlake Coach Greg Hilliard said, ‘To some it will seem surprising, But there was an immediate connection between Renaldo and Coach Pearl.’

Tennessee Coach Bruce Pearl has some of the same characteristics as Woolridge, in terms of flash and flamboyance, and Woolridge was sold on his recruiting visit by the enthusiasm of Tennessee’s fans.

‘He loved how crazy the fans were,’ Hilliard said.
