Here’s my latest list of ‘Games I’d wish I attended last night.’ (not including Ayala’s incredible comeback)

Riverside Poly defeated Riverside King in quadruple overtime, 48-42, leaving Poly Coach Jeff Huerta feeling pretty emotional after the game. If my wife knew, she’d want our sons to play for Huerta. I can also guarantee both these teams will lose to Riverside North, so this result will likely determine second place in the Ivy League.

Yucaipa edged Redlands, 22-21, in double overtime. Yucaipa chose to end the game with a two-point try after the Terriers had taken a 21-14 lead in the second overtime. Reporters on deadline always like those decisions. Good chance this game determines the fourth and final playoff berth from the eight-team Citrus Belt League.

Kamani Harper of La Quinta rushed for 277 yards and three touchdowns and intercepted a pass on Palm Springs’ final drive to preserve a 21-16 victory in Desert Valley League play. Harper finally got the best of the DVL’s second-best player, Palm Springs quarterback Steven Saunders, who threw for 322 yards and two touchdowns in defeat.

Glendora scored a touchdown with 39 seconds left to defeat Chino Hills, 27-20, in a Sierra League game. The Huskies opened the door for the game-winning drive by fumbling a snap with 4:29 left.

The biggest blow would be a serious injury to Chino Hills running back Michael Harris, the leading rusher in the Sierra League, who left the game with an apparent leg injury on the second play and did not return. Harris is one of the more talented runners I’ve seen this season.

That’s it, I’m heading off to the San Diego State vs. New Mexico game. Can’t get enough football this time of year. You know how it is.
