A perfect time for common sense

It’s good to see that school administrators aren’t panicking yet in regards to the wildfires and how they may impact football games scheduled to be played Thursday, Friday or Saturdays around the Southland.

Although putting off to the last minute is usually never a good idea, making a determination on Tuesday for a game that will take place Thursday or Friday is like trying to determine which way a falling leaf will turn.

As Richard Schaaf, the athletic director at Santa Margarita, said, things are changing hour-to-hour rather than day-to-day. While it may be good to have a backup plan, it’s best to use it only when all other options cease to be possibile.

This is a tragedy to be sure, and it appears that so far, common sense is ruling the day.
