Troy and Dana Hills, the two top-ranked teams in Southern Section Division I girls’ tennis, are scheduled to play each other at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Troy.

Air quality from regional fires could still play a factor in the match taking place, but this has the makings of a good one. When they played a couple weeks ago at the Corona del Mar All-American Tournament -- the unofficial state championship tournament -- the teams finished tied, but Troy beat the Dolphins on games, 53-48. Despite the victory, Troy remained ranked behind Dana Hills in the section coaches’ poll.

Corona del Mar, another team that Troy defeated, is ranked No. 3, ahead of No. 4 Palos Verdes. That ranking doesn’t seem to make sense because Palos Verdes defeated CdM at its own tournament.

For a note on that match, along with the fine season turned in by Los Alamitos -- ranked No. 7 in Division II -- and senior Alyssa Nafarette’s outstanding season, check out The Register.
