North Hollywood (5-3, 4-0) and Grant (3-4, 3-0) are preparing to battle on Friday in a game that pretty much will decide the Sunset Six League title.

What could change things would be postponement or cancellation. The Southland fires, and their effect on air quality, have caused havoc with practice schedules from East L.A. to Tarzana. Teams need at least one day of practice to play the games.

‘I’m not worried yet. I just want to practice tomorrow,’ North Hollywood Coach Andrew Kasek said. ‘I talked with the [City Section] office this afternoon and they said it’s day-to-day’ on when practices can resume.

Kasek said he will talk with the Grant coaches about a contingency date of Saturday or possibly Monday. North Hollywood is off next week, but Grant is scheduled to play Canoga Park.

‘Cross your fingers, but I think it looks OK for Friday,’ Kasek said. ‘We just need a practice.’
