Vista Murrieta at Chaparral still set for Friday

Just how bad is the wildfire situation in San Diego compared to the rest of Southern California? The county has closed schools for the week and the San Diego Section has canceled all games and practice until at least Saturday. Yes, that includes football.

In the Southwestern League, which borders San Diego County, athletic events have been postponed until Wednesday, but the difficulty hasn’t been with fire and air quality, but road closures further south on the 15 freeway.

‘We had parents and officials just trying to get to the games,’ said Mike Rowan, boys’ athletic directory at Chaparral.

Rowan added that Friday’s key SWL game against Vista Murrieta is still a go.
