Santa Clarita-area games still up in the air

Even though the Buckweed Fire is 94% contained and the Magic and Meadowridge fires are fully contained, Canyon Coach Chris Varner said around noon the school district hasn’t given them the green light to practice today, nor has it confirmed that all Foothill League games will be played on Friday as scheduled.

My guess is if the school district allows outdoor practices this afternoon, Friday games look like a reality. If not, there is a definite possibility games could be pushed back to Saturday.

While the air quality seems to have improved a little bit today out here in the Santa Clarita Valley, the Ranch Fire is still just at 50% containment. But most of the smoke from that fire seems to be heading west.

I’m still waiting to hear back from the William S. Hart Unified School District on its decision about outdoor practices this afternoon.
