Just when I was wondering when I’d see the side of QB Dayne Crist that is the envy of all DI scouts, it finally showed up on Notre Dame’s third possession of the night.

After two drives stalled in Loyola territory, the Knights finally got onto the scoreboard mid way through the second quarter when Crist connected on a 45-yard pass to WR James Flynn before running straight up the middle on the next play for a 12-yard TD.

But Loyola is hanging tough. Mauricio Alphonoso kicked a 31-yard field goal on the first play of the second quarter, so the score is 7-3 ND with 5:20 left before halftime.

If Crist wants to get the necessary votes he’ll need to become homecoming king at tomorrow’s dance, he’s going to have to reveal the talent that’s made him recruiting royalty.
