While this game won’t be a repeat of last year’s blowout, Notre Dame seems to be in control. A 10-yard TD run by RB Thaddeus Brown late in the third quarter has given the Knights a 14-3 lead.

However, Loyola missed its chance to put a serious dent into that lead when the Cubs lost a fumble on the ND one-yard line after a remarkable return on the ensuing kickoff. All the recovery call got the Cubs (and the refs) was an alphabet lesson on the letters ‘B’ and ‘S’ from a large portion of the Loyola student population sitting in the stands.

Luckily for the Cubs, they were able to get the ball right back after Dayne Crist and Brown couldn’t battle out of the tight confines behind the 10. And now Loyola is deep in ND territory.
