Pirates will remember fallen teammate with decal

The San Pedro football team will wear No. 85 decals on their helmets for Friday’s game against Banning in memory of teammate Laterian Tasby.

Tasby, 17, was shot and killed at a Halloween party Saturday night in San Pedro. Four others were injured in what police suspect was a gang-related brawl.

Coach Mike Walsh said the players ‘were still shook up’ on Monday, but went ahead and practiced.

‘I still can’t believe it,’ Walsh said. ‘No one here will forget Laterian. He was liked by all.’

The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Gardena High.
