City girls’ volleyball: Palisades is the No. 1 target

Taft is the defending City champion, and San Pedro, which lost to Taft in last year’s championship game, is shooting for a fourth consecutive finals appearance.

But neither team is the top seeded team in the girl’s volleyball playoffs, which begin tonight. That honor goes to Palisades (19-8), which hosts No. 32 Kennedy (7-6) in first-round action.

Venice (13-3-1), which beat Taft on Monday but lost its Western League tiebreaker to Palisades, is seeded second and will host No. 31 Fremont (9-7). Taft (12-6) is seeded third and hosts No. 30 Canoga Park (5-14-1), while fourth-seeded San Pedro (19-9) hosts No. 29 South East (8-5).
