Girls’ golf: Irvine’s Park leads qualifying for finals

Victoria Park of Irvine shot a 69 to claim top honors Thursday at the Southern Individual Regionals girls’ golf qualifier at Seven Hills Golf Club in Hemet.

Park was one of three golfers who shot below 72. The others were Desiree Dubreuil of Mater Dei, who shot 70, and Noelle Zavaleta of Long Beach Wilson, who shot 71. Five shot even-par 72.

Five players also shot tournament-high 72 at the Northern Regional, which was held on the River Course at The Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort in Solvang. Tiffany Lua of Los Altos, Christine Cho of Crescenta Valley, Jenny Shin of Torrance, Sarah Salvo of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and Rebecca Song of Sunny Hills shot even-par 72.

The top 45 players from each qualifier advance to the Southern Section’s individual finals Nov. 12 at Diamond Bar Golf Course.
