Here I was, all set to write my first item on girls’ volleyball, specifically on Vista Murrieta, the second-seeded team in Division I-AA.

Then, to my horror, I see the Broncos (29-4) didn’t even survive their first-round match Tuesday night against Fullerton Rosary (17-14), losing in four games on their home floor.

OuCh, with a capital OC.

At least the Inland Empire still has Elsinore, which is seeded second in Division II-A and opens play Thursday. Elsinore is now the IE’s best bet to reach the Southern Section finals Nov. 16 and 17 at Cypress College.
