Exciting last four minutes of the first half here at Norco.

I saw the ball snapped over the head of the Norco punter, but the play was blown dead. How does the long snapper take advantage of his second chance? He snaps it over the punter’s head again, only this time out of the back of the end zone for a safety and a 30-7 lead for Centennial.

On the ensuing free kick by the Cougars, the ball hit a Centennial player in the face mask and Norco recovered. The Cougars didn’t take advantage, however. Instead, quarterback Josh Foley threw a pass that was intercepted with 28 seconds left in the half. There was still time for one more gaffe, as the Centennial center snapped the ball to quarterback Matt Scott before he was ready and Norco recovered. Smartly, the Cougars ran out the clock.

Things also began to get a little chippy late in the first half. During the interception return, a Norco offensive lineman was seen using his forearm to push off on a fallen opponent’s neck. When the offense returned to the field after the bungled snap, a Huskies linebacker had harsh words for the Norco lineman, drawing an unsportsmanlike penalty.

I don’t think Norco is accustomed to getting blown out like this, especially by arch rival Centennial.
