Some potential for postseason rematches

After his team beat Oaks Christian for the first time in nearly four years, Oak Park Head Coach Dick Billingsley offered some encouraging words to Boise State-bound QB Chris Potter.

‘I told him, ‘We’ll see you again in the playoffs,’’ Billingsley said. ‘He smiled when I said that.’

I don’t want to jump too far ahead of myself, but there’s a chance Oak Christian and Oak Park could meet again, in the semifinals of the Northwest Division playoffs on Nov. 30. Last year, the teams met in the divisional finals, where the Lions won, 46-7.

In the Northern Division, Hart could meet Valencia in the semifinals and there’s a chance either could be playing Saugus in the final on Dec. 8 at the Home Depot Center. But I don’t think any of these Foothill League rematches stand a good chance of happening.
