So much for a free pass in the first round.

Unbeaten Culver City might have the toughest first-round opponent of any top-seeded team in the Southern Section playoffs.

The Centaurs (10-0), the No. 1 team in the Western Division, drew Leuzinger (6-4), which tied for third in the Bay League and earned an at-large bid into the playoffs.

The Olympians edged their league’s co-champion, Palos Verdes, 9-7, and won, 10-7, over Norco, which has spent almost all season in The Times’ top 25 rankings and currently stands at No. 17.

In fact, the Olympians themselves were on the bubble for The Times’ rankings at one point, and they played a competitive Bay League game before losing, 13-0, to West Torrance, the 2006 Western Division runner-up.

My advice to Culver City: Beef up, and beware.

The Olympians have 13 guys weighing at least 240 pounds, including four at 300 or more.
