Encino Crespi has promoted freshman running back Rasheed Johnson to the varsity for the Pac-5 playoffs, and the Celts can’t wait to turn him loose.
He rushed for more than 1,000 yards on the freshman team and got to wear jersey No. 4, which was worn by former Celts standout Russell White, pictured left. That jersey isn’t available at the varsity level (it was retired), but White might be getting a phone call asking if Johnson can wear it next season. White, a 1989 Crespi grad, is athletic director at Flagstaff High in Arizona.
‘He’s a special player,’ Crespi Coach Jeremiah Ross said of Johnson.
