Inland Empire girls’ volleyball: Semifinals set for tonight

Several girls’ volleyball teams from the Inland Empire are scheduled to play in Southern Section semifinal matches tonight.

Riverside Poly, seeded fourth in Division II-A and sporting a 19-7-3 record, will be trying to advance to its first section final since 1984 when it hosts top-seeded North Torrance (24-3-1) at 7 p.m.

In the other semifinal, Redlands East Valley will host third-seeded South Torrance (25-9) at 7 p.m. The Wildcats (32-2-1) are coming off a three-game sweep against second-seeded Elsinore on Saturday night. REV has never played in a section final.

La Quinta also hosts Brentwood in a Division III-A semifinal. Murrieta Calvary Chapel and Woodcrest Christian advanced to separate semifinals in Division IV-A. Hemet Baptist Christian will host Wildomar Cal Lutheran in a Division V-AA semifinal, and Bermuda Dunes Desert Christian hosts Canoga Park Faith Baptist in the other.
