Well, it took five or six tries, but the Notre Dame cheerleaders finally got their halftime dance music going. I guess it might finally be time for the archdiocese to purchase a new sound system. Either that or train a cheerleader to properly work a CD player. I wonder which one is more expensive.

I’m glad they got the CD player to work because it’s been awhile since I’ve heard Limp Bizkit. Is Fred Durst still popular?

As for the game here at Notre Dame High, the host Knights lead Newport Harbor, 3-0, thanks to a 26-yard field goal by Brandon Lluis.

It could have possibly been more after a 51-yard pass from QB Thomas Edwards to WR Mike Gerski, pictured, but the Knights couldn’t punch it in from the 8-yard line and had to settle for a field goal.

I’ve been really impressed by both teams’ defenses. Notre Dame LB Wes Horton has a sack and a key block on the night and Newport Harbor’s Chase Obenauer has been harassing Edwards and RB Thaddeus Brown throughout the first half.

Brown and Sailors’ RB Ben Frazier each have 60 yards rushing and Edwards has connected on eight of 10 passes for 89 yards. Pretty decent for a backup QB. Of course, he’s going to have to do even more if he wants to become as popular on campus as, say, Limp Bizkit.
